History

At Bitterne  CE Primary School, we aim to help pupils to gain a secure knowledge and understanding of Britain’s past and that of the wider world.  Through our history program, we aim to inspire pupils’ curiosity, and to develop their historical skills so that they are equipped to ask questions, think critically, weigh evidence, sift arguments and develop perspective and judgement. 

Throughout their time at the school, pupils engage in a series of history led topics, and through these, they develop their knowledge and understanding of the past.  The school also organises a number of history-focused trips to bring the past to life for learners, and to support learning back in school.
