Returning to School - 8th March 2021

We are all looking forward to welcoming all the children back to school on Monday 8th March. Our Covid-19 control measures and systems will largely be the same as before Christmas.

As a reminder, the ‘Infographic’ and ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ that we sent out in September with key information have both been updated and are available to via the 'Parent Updates' link below.  Please scroll down to the bottom of the page to view the documents.

Ethos and Mission Statement

At Bitterne CE Primary School we believe that every child should have the opportunity to reach their full potential through education of the highest quality within a positive and caring environment.

We strive to equip the children with skills and values that will enable them to positively contribute to the modern British society in which they live.

Bitterne CE Primary School is a community school based on Christian values.  Our Christian Values form the foundation of everything we do.

The school motto is 'Inspire, Believe, Achieve'.

We want every child to be excited by the learning opportunities they have, to have confidence in their themselves and to strive for the very best in all they do.

Bitterne CE Primary School is a community school based on Christian values. The school has a very long heritage in the community and was founded in 1856. More recently in September 2014, the previous Bitterne CE Infant School and Bitterne CE Junior School joined to form the all through Bitterne CE Primary School.  Our Christian Values form the foundation of everything we do.

The values are:

Love, Trust, Forgiveness

The core Christian values help us, as a school community, in how we behave and treat each other . As we are a community school, it does not matter whether staff, children or parents are Christian, other faith or no faith. What is important is that everyone demonstrates a loving, trusting and forgiving approach in school.

We have been accredited as a ' School of Sanctuary'.

As a School of Sanctuary we are committed to being a safe and welcoming place for all, especially those seeking sanctuary. This could be people whose lives were in danger in their own country, who have troubles at home or are just looking for a space of safety.

As a School of Sanctuary we also help our students, staff and wider community understand what it means to be seeking sanctuary and to extend a welcome to everyone as equal, valued members of the school community. Bitterne CE Primary is a  school that is proud to be a place of safety and inclusion for all.
