Choosing your child's first school is an important decision, and we believe the best way to discover whether Bitterne is right for your family is to come and see us in action.
At Bitterne, children are known as individuals, encouraged to be ambitious and supported to flourish. We are a warm and inclusive school with high expectations, a strong sense of community and lots of opportunities for children to learn, explore and discover what they can achieve.

During your visit, you will have the opportunity to:
- meet members of our team;
- visit our Reception classrooms and explore our indoor and outdoor learning environments;
- tour our wider school and grounds;
- find out about learning and life at Bitterne; and
- ask any questions that are important to you and your family.
Most importantly, you'll have the opportunity to get a feel for our school and see what starting school at Bitterne could look like for your child.

Starting your journey at Bitterne
Reception is the beginning of an exciting journey. Our children learn in carefully planned indoor and outdoor environments where they can talk, read, write, count, investigate, create, move and play.
We place a strong emphasis on the foundations children need for future learning, while making sure that their first experiences of school are filled with curiosity, friendship and opportunities to discover the world around them.

Daily phonics, reading, writing and mathematics help children develop the knowledge and skills they need for future learning.

Our indoor and outdoor provision gives children opportunities to investigate, create, solve problems, develop independence and learn through purposeful play.

Strong relationships are at the heart of our school. We get to know each child and work closely with families so that children feel safe, happy and that they belong.
Supporting your family beyond the school day
