Home Learning

Home Learning at Bitterne Church of England Primary

At Bitterne Church of England Primary School, we believe home learning should support, reinforce and celebrate learning.

Guided by our Christian values of Hope, Courage and Creativity, home learning helps children practise key skills, develop independence and build confidence. Our activities are purposeful, manageable and designed to fit alongside family life and children's wider interests.

Home Learning in Action

We ask parents to support with:

How Parents Can Help

You can support your child by:

  • hearing your child read regularly
  • practising phonics and spelling
  • learning number facts and times tables
  • encouraging them to complete home learning independently where appropriate
  • celebrating effort as well as achievement

If your child is finding home learning difficult, please speak to their class teacher. We will always work with families to provide the right support.

Online Learning

Children and families may use online platforms to support learning at home, including:

Numbots -Starts in Years One and Two.NumBots

Times Tables Rock Stars - Starts in Year 2 through to Year 6

Pip and Pap Family Hub -Starts in Year RPip and Pap Home Learning

These provide fun opportunities for regular short practice to develop fluency.  Your child's leacher will give you a logon and password, alternatively contact the school office.

The Great Exhibition

Each term, families are invited to create a project for our Great Exhibition. These optional projects provide an opportunity to extend learning from the classroom through creativity, research and family collaboration.

We love celebrating the imagination, effort and talents of our children and families. Visit our Ambitious Curriculum page to see some of the fantastic projects our pupils have created.
