Bitterne Community Pre-school

Bitterne Community Pre-School was registered in 2001 and is managed by a voluntary management committee. We operate from a spacious room and forest area within the grounds of Bitterne C of E Primary School, in Bitterne, Southampton.

Although our preschool is not a part of the primary school and we do not have any influence over primary school places, we do work closely with the school to aid transition and share resources safely. Our      pre-school is open Monday - Friday during term time and our sessions run from 8.00am to 3.30pm.

We receive funding for the provision of free early education for children aged two (if eligible), three and four years. We are currently a team of 13 staff who work with the children. Our manager Karen holds early years professional status, and 11 of the remaining staff hold appropriate qualifications between levels 2 and 6. We currently have an apprentice, 2 staff member is currently studying her level 3 and 2 members of staff are currently studying a foundation degree.

At Bitterne Community Pre-School our staff work with the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum Framework (EYFS). The EYFS aims to develop children's understanding, knowledge, attitudes and skills in all areas of learning. The EYFS uses principles which guide the work of all Early Years Practitioners  in England.
